Professor Tadeusz Majda is a scholar with diverse academic interests, covering such areas as the languages, literature and culture of the Turkish peoples, the Near East and Islam. Professor Majda is a distinguished representative of Polish Turcology, who continues the work of his eminent predescessors Professor Ananiasz Zjączkowski and Professor Jan Reychman. To celebrate many years of his work as an academic and a tutor, his friends and colleagues from the largest centres of Oriental Studies in Europe and United States have prepared this collection of valuable contributions.
